Product Overview
Stepper-driven linear actuators trade the brute force of DC motor-screw units for positioning intelligence: the controller counts steps and knows where the axis is without an encoder (open loop), which suits the moderate loads and precise, repeatable positioning of medical beds, examination tables and diagnostic stages. Two specifications must be settled explicitly rather than assumed. First, holding behavior: whether the actuator holds position unpowered depends on the lead-screw geometry — fine leads self-lock, coarse leads backdrive — and must match the application (a bed must not drift when de-energized). Second, stall detection: open-loop steppers lose steps silently under overload, so safety-relevant axes add encoder closure or current monitoring. Manufacturers listed here configure motor size, screw lead, gearing and feedback per motion profile, with low-noise packages for ward environments and synchronized multi-axis control for whole-table positioning.
