Product Overview
A cylindrical lens carries optical power in one axis only: it spreads a collimated laser beam into a fan while leaving the orthogonal axis untouched, turning a point source into a working line. That single function sits inside laser line projectors, machine-vision illumination, structured-light 3D scanners, laser levels and barcode engines. Cylinders are specified exactly like spherical lenses — same material families (BK7 for visible duty, fused silica for UV or high power), same scratch-dig and figure tiers (60-40/λ/4 commercial through 10-5/λ/10 laser grade) — plus the cylindrical axis tolerances that matter only here. One honest design note belongs in every line-generator specification: the cylinder is rarely the whole uniformity story. Uniform-intensity lines typically pair the cylinder with fast-axis collimation or a Powell-type element, so suppliers should review the beam-shaping stack, not just the single lens drawing, before quoting.
