Product Overview
Industrial chimney flues are attacked from inside by acid condensate — sulfuric and hydrochloric acids form at cold spots long before the gas stream looks corrosive — which is why chimney linings use dense, acid-resistant fireclay rather than ordinary red brick or high-alumina products. These bricks combine a low-flux chamotte body (high silica plus alumina, minimal alkali and iron) with dense pressing, giving high resistance to acid condensate and thermal cycling between flue gas and standby conditions. Refractoriness sits in the 1580–1750°C class depending on density and composition — well above chimney service temperatures, since the real design driver is acid resistance and spalling behavior, not peak heat. Manufacturers listed here press standard straights plus radial and tapered shapes that follow chimney diameter, with acid-loss test reports and water absorption figures available per lot for spec compliance.
